Strong Country Program – Employment Opportunities

Work on Country. Strengthen Culture. Build the Future.

Looking for work that matters?

At Nyamal Aboriginal Corporation, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to projects that make a real difference—for Country, community and future generations. Whether you're seeking a new challenge, a stronger sense of purpose, or a chance to work in a unique and rewarding environment, we invite you to explore a career with us.

Nyamal Aboriginal Corporation (NAC) is recruiting a Strong Country team to deliver programs under the Nyamal Healthy Country Plan (2025–2035).

The Nyamal AC Strong Country Program delivers Nyamal’s Healthy Country Plan and has been operating on beautiful Nyamal Country since 2022. The program creates opportunities for Nyamal people to return to, reconnect with and care for Country while strengthening cultural knowledge, creating pathways to employment, and building skills and capability for current and future generations.

Nyamal are river people, and the program’s work to date has focused on key areas including the Papurunya (Oakover River) area, Coongan River, Purungunya National Park and surrounding landscapes. Through on-country projects, the program supports cultural renewal, knowledge transfer and practical land management outcomes that contribute to healthy country and strong communities.

The program is supported by a strong and growing pool of casual rangers who regularly work on Country. With new funding secured, there are expanding opportunities for Elders, knowledge holders, rangers and the broader Nyamal community to participate in trips, projects, and cultural and environmental initiatives and activities.

This includes:

  • Consultation with Elders and knowledge holders about an Indigenous Protected Area.
  • Establishing the Mangkurla Parkarra Mangkurla (women alongside women), country, language and culture program.
  • Jointly managing culture, fire, and ecology at Purungungya National Park in partnership with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
  • Undertaking cultural land management activities at Karawayinya (Carawine Gorge).
  • Delivering conservation projects across Nyamal country, focused on threatened species protection, feral cat and fire management.

This is an exciting time to join Nyamal as we build the team that will lead and support delivery of the Strong Country Program into the future. We are looking for people from diverse backgrounds, who are committed to working alongside Nyamal people to deliver their priorities for Country. Join a coordinated team caring for Country, strengthening culture, and creating opportunities for future generations.
