An opportunity for an experienced Community Education and Outreach Coordinator has become available in our organisation to support the Strategic Engagement team. 

About knowmore

knowmore is a nation-wide, free and independent mainstream community legal centre providing legal information, advice, representation and referrals, education and systemic advocacy for victims and survivors of child sexual abuse.

knowmore uses a multidisciplinary model bringing together intake officers, lawyers, social workers and counsellors, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement advisors and financial counsellors to provide trauma-informed, client-centred and culturally safe legal assistance to clients. Services are provided through a national phone line and face-to-face services in key locations, supported by a comprehensive program of outreach and community engagement across Australia. knowmore currently has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

Role

As a member of the Strategic Engagement team this national role will utilise community development and project management skills to coordinate knowmore’s outreach and education efforts. This work will include strengthening strategy, innovating new methods to conduct outreach, identifying new opportunities and partners, maintaining a clean, robust and up to date database, developing and managing a calendar of events, tracking activities, analysing and evaluating statistics, and developing reports on outreach and education efforts. This role will also involve the delivery of some education sessions and content.

Location & Hours

This role is based in Melbourne. The role will involve regular interstate and intrastate travel.

This is a Full-Time position. Fixed Term Contract until 30 June 2021 - subject to extension upon the renewal of the funding of the knowmore service. 

Selection Criteria

  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with diverse groups including colleagues, clients and community partners
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, preferably with an outreach, campaign, community education or advocacy focus
  • Experience developing and facilitating education sessions through workshops, meetings, and/or presentations and talks
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to produce high quality written and verbal reports

In addition to being a flexible workplace, knowmore offers 10% superannuation (0.5%above the SGC), a 37.5 -hour working week and 4 weeks annual leave, including annual leave loading. 

To be appointed to the role, an applicant will also need to comply with the requirements of any applicable legislation relating to legal practice (i.e. not be a person disqualified from employment by a legal practice) and will also need to meet the entry requirements for professional visitors to correctional centres across Australia.
