Kate Chaney MP is seeking a Digital Media Adviser to join her dynamic, close-knit team in doing politics differently. This is a rare opportunity for a politically engaged person skilled in social media strategy and content creation to amplify Kate’s message and policies and grow her base of supporters.

This role is based in the Member's electorate office in Floreat, Western Australia and may include occasional travel to Canberra.

About the Digital Media Adviser role and its key responsibilities
This role works closely with the Media and Communications Adviser, Chief of Staff and the Member. The key responsibilities of the role are, but not limited to:
Social media
- Develop and implement a social media strategy with the aim of growing name recognition, policy and community awareness and increasing engagement.
- Create, curate and deliver brand-aligned social media content that highlights issues and activities in Canberra and across the electorate across multiple digital platforms.
- Demonstrate creativity and initiative in expanding social media presence and reach.
- Analyse growth and performance of social media content and adapt accordingly.
- Conduct social media monitoring and reporting to the Member and team.
- Monitor and respond to social media comments as required.
Supporting Communications
- Manage and maintain the website.
- Provide content for newsletters and advertisements as requested.
- Build a database of content for use across digital platforms.
- Manage image and communications library.
Supporting Events
- As requested, liaise with community groups, business groups and constituents on events that may be used to boost social media content.
- Travel with and support the Member at events, which includes taking photographs, interacting with constituents and using event content on social media.
- Be on call and from time to time work out of hours and on weekends.
Skills and Experience
- Qualification in design, communications, marketing, or related field, or equivalent professional experience with a strong portfolio.
- Demonstrated content creation and social media administration skills.
- Experienced and skilled in using relevant applications to create high-quality assets, such as Canva, photography and video skills.
- Experience in video editing to create engaging multimedia assets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- High degree of knowledge and understanding of Australia’s political system.

Please note this role requires the successful candidate to occasionally be available during varying hours including evenings, on weekends and public holidays.
This role is 3 days a week which can be worked flexibly across hours or days to be discussed.
A package between $65,000 – $76,000 is paid which includes:
- a salary of $47,347 (for 0.6 FTE);
- an allowance between $9,289 - $18,576 in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work; and
- an employer superannuation contribution of 15.4%.
This role has a probationary period of 3 months and may be subject to extension.
