The Position

The Board of Women’s Health Victoria (WHV) seeks to appoint an energetic and dynamic leader to become its new Chief Executive Officer. A key remit of this position is to build on the organisation’s standing as a highly influential voice in the Victorian health system.

Reporting to a skilled Board, and working alongside a committed and experienced management team, the CEO oversees an organisation that holds ‘gender equity in health’ as its north star, and relentlessly pursues this in all it does. WHV envision a future where gender equity in health is a reality so that everyone has the opportunity to access optimal health and wellbeing, without disadvantage.

Providing visionary leadership to the organisation, the CEO will inspire and motivate staff, volunteers and stakeholders towards WHV’s overall mission and new strategic plan. Upholding strong governance, maintaining the organisation’s ethos and values, and bringing a contemporary intersectional feminist approach, the CEO will cultivate exceptional stakeholder relationships and ensure efficient operational management.

The successful candidate will possess CEO or executive-level experience gained in the health sector. Possessing a record in advocacy, stakeholder engagement and influence within a health, community or NFP setting, they will be practiced in working with a Board and equipped with a contemporary understanding of governance. The appointee will be recognised as a leader who is passionate about addressing systemic and structural inequalities, identifying unmet needs and bringing a gendered lens to service design. The CEO will be an inspiring, visionary, inclusive and principled leader who demonstrates a commitment to the values and ethos of WHV. Strong commercial acumen and experience in fundraising highly advantageous.

The Organisation

Women’s Health Victoria (WHV) is a state-wide women’s policy, health promotion, education, advocacy, and support service. We are an independent, feminist, not-for-profit organisation. We advocate and build system capacity for a gendered approach to health that reduces inequalities and improves health outcomes for women. We collaborate with health professionals, researchers, policy makers, service providers, educators, and community organisations to influence and inform health policy and service delivery for women. Our health promotion, education, information, and support programs work with and for women, to identify and respond to service gaps and health inequalities in innovative ways.

Looking ahead, in 2024 WHV will celebrate its 30th anniversary and will launch a new 5-year organisational strategy.
