Youth Facilitator - Youth Leadership Program - Enabled Youth Disability Network

JFA Purple Orange

We are hiring!

About the role

Do you know from experience what it means to navigate the world as a neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ young person? Do you want to use that knowledge to open doors for others?

The Enabled Youth Disability Network (EYDN) is an incorporated organisation run by and for young people with disability, aged 16–35. Hosted by JFA Purple Orange, EYDN has partnered with Children and Young People with Disability Australia (CYDA) to deliver the Neurodivergent LGBTQIA+ Youth National and Community Leadership Program 2025–2027. This project supports young LGBTQIA+ neurodivergent people to achieve greater independence, build community connections, and contribute to more accessible and inclusive spaces.

JFA Purple Orange is an Adelaide-based social-profit organisation with a mission to create a more inclusive world where people with disability have access to the same opportunities as everyone else.

We host peer networks and run other events for people with disability and their families to connect with information and each other. We conduct research, run consultations and contribute to policy development. We also deliver projects that influence practice through training workshops. We work closely with people with disability, in line with the principles of co-design.

Working alongside the Project Officer and other project staff, the Youth Facilitator will:

  • Co-facilitate two Local Community Leaders Programs for LGBTQIA+ neurodivergent young people (one per year over two years)
  • Support and co-facilitate an ongoing peer community group led by program graduates
  • Support delivery of a two-half-day summit
  • Co-design and create resources that speak authentically to neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ communities
  • Contribute to project communications, newsletters, and promotional materials
  • Support planning, logistics, and stakeholder engagement

This role is casual, based at our Unley office, with options to work remotely also available.

A valid NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check, or the ability to obtain one (with support from the organisation) prior to commencement, is essential.

About you

This role would be perfect if you:

  • Have lived and/or professional experience within LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities, including an understanding of the diverse needs and identities within these communities
  • Are passionate about inclusion and improving the lives of young people with disability
  • Love building genuine connections with a wide range of people
  • Are comfortable working as part of a small team with some independent initiative
  • Are familiar with Microsoft Office including Teams

We know that neurodivergent people often work and communicate differently, and that is a strength we actively want in this role. Self-identification as neurodivergent is valid and welcomed, formal diagnosis is not required.

This role will be working with a group of people aged 18–25, and people in that age range are encouraged to apply.

Please note

JFA Purple Orange values diversity. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, experiences, abilities and identities, including people with disability and First Nations people.

We offer an inclusive culture and flexible work arrangements so that all staff feel safe, valued and supported to achieve their best. For example, we have flexible work hours, we allow staff to work partly from home, and we provide accessible office equipment. We encourage requests for reasonable adjustments.

We are committed to providing an accessible recruitment process for all. We invite any queries or requests to ensure the recruitment process is barrier-free.
