WHO ARE WE

DVAC has a long history of providing high quality services to women, children/young people and individuals who have experienced domestic, family, and sexual violence in the Ipswich, Toowoomba, and surrounding regions.

DVAC works from a feminist perspective, We have a gender analysis of domestic, family, and sexual violence that understands that domestic, family, and sexual violence is a result of systemic power imbalances and inequalities. We acknowledge the many barriers that exist for women and their families as they seek safety and support, and that women from diverse backgrounds can face particular and unique barriers. We are strong advocates for change on all levels. We actively stand against all forms of oppression (including racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, and multiple other forms of oppression) and believe in the right of justice, equality, and fairness for all.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you ready to make a tangible difference in the lives of victim-survivors affected by domestic and family violence? As a Housing Connector, you'll be at the forefront of providing crucial support to those who are homeless or facing homelessness due to these challenging circumstances.

In this dynamic role, you'll serve as a lifeline for individuals and families, offering comprehensive case management services aimed at securing safe and affordable housing solutions. From conducting mobile outreach services to crafting personalised safety plans and making vital referrals, your contributions will directly impact the well-being and stability of those in need.

Collaboration is key in this role, as you'll work closely with various agencies to ensure that our clients have access to essential resources and services. Your ability to navigate changing circumstances with strong administrative and organisational skills will be pivotal to your success.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Tertiary Qualifications in the human services field desirable
  • Working knowledge of or the ability to acquire understanding of the Domestic & Family Violence Protection Act 2012
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Working with Children Check - Blue Card (or ability to obtain)
  • National Police Check upon successful offer of position
  • Ability to work within the organisation's philosophy, objectives, and policies, including working within a feminist framework and utilising consultative and collaborative processes.
