- Sydney > Summer Hill (Inner West)

For almost 50 years, Jannawi Family Centre has been working with families experiencing family and sexual violence – providing specialist interventions to children aged 0–12 years and to vulnerable families. The service was established because people in the community recognised the urgent need to support children experiencing neglect and abuse, and were compelled to act.
Jannawi exists because people were motivated to create meaningful change for children and families. Today, they continue this legacy through specialist, trauma-informed interventions that build safety, strengthen relationships and foster recovery. Guided by values of caring, respect, hope, integrity, community, compassion and growth, they remain deeply committed to ensuring children and families can heal and thrive.
As a Family Counsellor, you will provide specialist support to women, children and young people living in the Sydney LGA who have experienced domestic, family and sexual violence. While the service is based at Summer Hill, much of the work will involve outreach, offering counselling, risk assessments, case management, practical support and, where appropriate, home visits and transport assistance.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside Social Workers and Early Childhood Teachers, you will contribute to a holistic service that delivers high-quality outcomes for families. Your role will be central in ensuring that clients are supported on their journey toward safety, recovery and healing from trauma, always in alignment with Jannawi’s vision, purpose and values.
This position offers the opportunity to be part of a values-driven organisation where social justice and community impact are at the heart of the work.
