Impact Advising

Lead organisation-wide digital, data and technology transformation as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

  • Newly created Executive role reporting directly to the CEO
  • Lead the next phase of ChildFund Australia's Business Systems Transformation
  • Surry Hills, Sydney - Permanent - Full-time - Hybrid

Impact of the organisation

ChildFund Australia is an independent international development organisation working to create a world where every child can reach their full potential.

Partnering with children, families and communities across Australia, Asia and the Pacific, ChildFund supports locally led solutions that strengthen education, child protection, health, livelihoods and climate resilience.

As the organisation continues to evolve, ChildFund Australia is investing in its digital, data and technology capability to strengthen organisational performance, improve decision-making and enable greater impact.

By building more connected systems and data capability, the organisation is creating stronger foundations to support its people, enhance supporter and partner experiences, and deliver better outcomes for the children and communities it serves.

Impact you will have in this role

This newly created Executive Leadership Team position presents an opportunity to shape the future of ChildFund Australia's digital, data and technology capability.

Created in response to the organisation's growing strategic ambition, this role will help bridge the gap between ChildFund Australia's current systems and data environment and its future vision, ensuring technology and data become true enablers of organisational performance, innovation and impact.

Importantly, this role is broader than a traditional technology role. It leads significant technology and systems change — evolving and modernising platforms so they keep pace with the organisation’s growing ambitions — alongside the people, process, data and cultural change that determines whether that investment delivers. Success depends on owning both: the technical transformation and the organisational change around it.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead organisation-wide digital transformation, ensuring technology, systems and data become strategic enablers of organisational performance, innovation and impact. Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, you will drive enterprise-wide change that improves organisational integration, supports better decision-making and enables more connected ways of working across fundraising, programs, finance and corporate services.

You'll play a pivotal role in reducing system fragmentation, improving organisational integration and helping teams adopt more connected, data-informed ways of working that strengthen collaboration and organisational performance.

Supporter experience is one of ChildFund Australia’s most important assets and a key driver of future revenue. A central focus of this role is ensuring technology and data enable an outstanding supporter experience across the full lifecycle — from acquisition and engagement through to retention and lifetime value.

A key priority will be leading the next phase of ChildFund Australia's Business Systems Transformation Project. You will guide the development of future-state systems architecture and implementation roadmap, while leading organisational change, governance, adoption and benefits realisation to ensure technology investments deliver meaningful outcomes across the organisation.

This is an opportunity to build long-term organisational capability by embedding technology, data and digital thinking at the heart of ChildFund Australia's future strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, helping shape organisational strategy, operating model evolution and culture.
  • Develop and lead ChildFund Australia's digital, data and technology strategy aligned to organisational priorities.
  • Provide executive leadership for the Business Systems Transformation Project, from business case through to implementation.
  • Lead enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives that improve organisational integration, efficiency and collaboration.
  • Drive organisational change by aligning technology, people, processes and culture — embedding sustainable new ways of working and ensuring technology investments deliver adoption and benefits realisation.
  • Develop future-state systems architecture and implementation roadmaps that support long-term organisational growth.
  • Provide strategic oversight of ChildFund Australia's technology environment, CRM platforms and data capability.
  • Strengthen enterprise data capability by improving integration, accessibility and organisational use of data.
  • Partner with Fundraising and Marketing to strengthen the supporter and donor lifecycle, and ensure systems support contemporary fundraising — flexible regular-giving and payment options, personalised donor journeys, and an integrated supporter-data ecosystem.
  • Ensure the organisation can access the increasingly specialised capability required to optimise CRM, payments and marketing-automation platforms — building it in the team or sourcing it through partners — so fundraising growth is not constrained.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual work and enable more scalable, data-driven ways of working.
  • Provide executive oversight of technology governance, cyber security, data privacy and information management — including the safeguarding of children’s data as a growing organisational and board-level risk.
  • Lead the responsible adoption of AI and automation to improve supporter experience, optimise processes and generate insight, with appropriate governance and human oversight.
  • Lead and develop the Technology and Data functions while working closely with external delivery partners.
  • Lead largely through influence and partnership across a lean organisation and its country teams, supporting leaders to adopt new ways of working.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to ensure technology and data support fundraising, programs, finance and organisational priorities.
  • Provide strategic advice to the CEO and Board on digital capability, investment priorities and organisational maturity.

Skills and experience

We're seeking an experienced executive leader with a strong track record delivering enterprise-wide digital and organisational transformation in complex environments. The right person may come from a transformation, change, operations or consulting background as readily as a technology one.

You will bring:

  • Executive leadership experience leading digital, data or enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex organisational change across people, process, systems and culture.
  • Experience developing and implementing enterprise technology, systems or data strategies.
  • Proven ability to translate strategic vision into practical transformation roadmaps and delivery plans.
  • Sufficient technical depth to make sound strategic technology decisions and challenge vendors and partners with credibility — across CRM systems, data platforms and integration.
  • Experience leading large-scale business systems transformation programs from strategy through implementation.
  • Comfortable operating in an environment of organisational transformation, evolving priorities and strategic ambiguity.
  • Strong commercial, analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to identify opportunities to improve organisational performance.
  • Outstanding executive communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with CEOs, Executive teams and Boards.
  • The ability to influence across diverse stakeholder groups and build organisational capability through collaboration and change leadership.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, information technology or a related discipline, or equivalent executive-level experience.
  • A genuine commitment to ChildFund Australia's purpose and the role technology and innovation can play in creating positive outcomes for children and communities.
  • Cultural alignment with a lean, values-driven international development organisation — hands-on, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to work respectfully across diverse cultures and country teams.
  • Evidence of having led — not just supported — significant organisational and cultural change.
  • Experience building customer or supporter lifecycle capability — across acquisition, engagement, retention and lifetime value — enabled by CRM, payments and marketing-automation platforms.
  • Experience applying AI, automation and data to improve customer or supporter experience and operational efficiency.
