The Women’s Council for Domestic and Family Violence Services (WCDFVS) has a steadfast history operating as the peak body for domestic and family violence services, and campaigning for improved responses to and prevention of violence against women and their children in Western Australia.
The WCDFVS Executive Committee have agreed that it is now time for WCDFVS to embark on another phase of growth in its role as a peak body. Under a new name and collaborative approach we will extend our reach and engagement with members and stakeholders alike, and will build the capability of current and emerging workforces to prevent and respond to violence against women and their children, promote wellbeing and advance gender equity.
Expressions of Interest are called for the Volunteer Position of Independent Chair of the Centre for Women’s Safety and Wellbeing’s service model to be for the period after this year's Annual General Meeting until the next AGM.
The Chairperson will support the implementation of the organisation’s service model, and strategically lead the Board and focus it on strategic matters, overseeing the organisations business and setting high governance standards.
The Chairperson will play a pivotal role in fostering the effectiveness of the Board and ensuring a sustained focus on being an expert, specialist peak body working to prevent violence against women and their children, promote health and wellbeing and advance gender equity.
The Chairperson will be independent – that is, they will not currently be a service provider in the following areas: a women’s refuge, DFV counselling, support and advocacy service, community based women’s health or sexual assault service.
