About the role

The Summer Hill Campaign Committee is seeking an energetic, passionate, and experienced Campaigner Coordinator to lead the ambitious campaign for the Inner West seat of Summer Hill in the upcoming NSW state election.

The Campaign Coordinator is responsible for delivering on an  innovative and supported campaign strategy including, communications, fundraising, volunteer upskilling and field activities designed in collaboration with the volunteer campaign committee. The role will also oversee 1x field organiser, with the possibility of other staff dependent on fundraising. 

You will work closely with the Candidate; Izabella Antoniou, Greens MPs, Greens Councillors, volunteers and Greens NSW staff.

The role will also engage with community groups and activists on local and state issues.

Key Responsibilities

The Summer Hill Campaign Coordinator will work closely with the Candidate (Clr Izabella Antoniou), the Summer Hill Campaign Committee, and Greens NSW to lead the campaign for the seat of Summer Hill. 

Strategic Leadership

  • Developing, implementing and reviewing the overall campaign strategy, in conjunction with the Summer Hill Campaign Committee (SHCC) and Candidate.
    • Including key targets, key tactics for vote shifting, campaign timeline/s and volunteer training plans
    • Reviewing campaign fundraising targets, and implementing the digital and relational fundraising for the campaign with support of candidate, volunteers and Greens NSW staff.
    • Ensuring the engagement of various communities in the inner west.
    • Throughout the campaign identifying new political opportunities and leading the campaign’s response.
  • Manage the budget and campaign finance obligations alongside the Treasurer
  • Overseeing the direct management of a Field Organiser,
    • and other staff, should funding permit the recruitment.

Communications

  • Support the refining and reviewing of key voter messaging for the campaign
  • Supporting the distribution of digital communications (such as EDMs, text blasts, social media posts, etc) and helping to deliver physical materials (such as HTVs, flyers, corflutes, etc) as directed by the campaign strategy.

Organising

  • Engage volunteers and supporting the logistics for campaign activities until a field organiser is recruited
    • Implement a volunteer pipeline and journey that focuses on upskilling key individuals.
  • Identifying, creating and coordinating creative supporter events including forums, fundraising events and other opportunities.

Reporting and admin

  • Regularly reviewing progress against the campaign plan and reporting regularly to SHCC and other stakeholders such as GNSW Standing Campaign Committee (SCC)
  • Administration support for the campaign and candidate.
    • Helping to manage the candidate’s diary and engagements
  • Ensuring full compliance with electoral legislation
  • Developing and maintaining professional relationships with Campaign Committee, employed staff, volunteers, local group members, Greens NSW staff and office bearers
  • Contributing to a comprehensive post-election evaluation report.
  • Any other tasks as directed.

Essential Skills / Selection Criteria

This is a dynamic and rewarding role. The Campaign Coordinator is expected to demonstrate:

  1. A commitment to Greens values and policies: You have sound political judgment, a thorough understanding of the Australian political landscape, and personal adherence to a leftist political framework that centres social justice, feminist practices and anti-racist approaches.
  2. Campaign experience: You have previously worked on a politicised campaign. You can demonstrate successfully implementing campaign strategies that may be across digital communications, field organising or data management.
  3. Interpersonal skills, communication and team management: You are great at coordinating people, can quickly build rapport and maintain strong relationships. You can demonstrate experience in managing and motivating volunteers and staff.
  4. Collaboration, multitasking, project delivery: You have a successful track record delivering outcomes within collaborative team settings, and can effectively coordinate multiple projects on time and within budget involving diverse stakeholders.
  5. Strategic thinking, risk management: You have experience working effectively in a fast-paced environment, thinking quickly on your feet and solving problems as they arise. You are proactive and can both manage your own workload with minimal supervision and take direction when required.

Additional to note

  • Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
  • Successful candidates must not be a member of another political party.
  • You will require a current Working with Children Check or a willingness to obtain one in the first month of employment. 
  • You will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement before commencing work.
