About the Role

The Therapeutic Intervention Practitioner operates as part of a partnership with key service providers including Good Shepherd, Family Life, The Salvation Army, and SECASA to mximise client access, safety, empowerment, and therapeutic outcomes for Family Violence response. This is an opportunity to contribute to a vital cause while working alongside dedicated professionals who share your values and commitment. In this role, you’ll be the first point of contact for clients, conducting comprehensive intake and assessments using a range of clinical tools, including detailed family violence risk assessments. Your ability to build trust and gather critical information will help shape the support pathways for those in need.

You’ll manage your own caseload and deliver a variety of tailored interventions, including outreach support, ensuring that each client receives the care and attention they deserve. Flexibility is key, as you’ll work across multiple service delivery sites, primarily based at Frankston, with travel across Sandringham and other sites as required.  A regular weekly presence at Hastings (minimum one day) is also required to support collaboration and integrated practice across partner organisations, with shared clinical supervision across organisations.

This is a max term contract until 29 Jan 2027.  

Key Responsibilities

• Provide intake and initial assessment to clients using a range of clinical assessment tools, including comprehensive family violence risk assessment.
• Maintain an active holding relationship with women and children engaged with S2S until allocation to a clinician – this includes ongoing risk assessment and ensuring safety plans are current.
• Carry and manage a caseload; providing a range of interventions including outreach support.
• Participate in intake, allocation and capacity review meetings.
• Identify when there is increased risk for clients in the S2S ‘holding’ phase, following MARAM adherent process and consulting with the Team Leader.
• Deliver outreach and work flexibly across a range of service delivery sites in accordance with accountability and compliance standards.
• Ensure that the needs and safety of the women and children take priority at all times.
• Deliver services to the quality standards, complying with relevant legislation and contractual requirements.
• Maintain professional documentation and administrative systems according to program and legislative requirements, including planning and documentation of group and education programs.
• Attend meetings as required and ensure participation in activities connected to the family violence program and sector.
• Perform other duties consistent with a multi-agency, multidisciplinary team of practitioners, this role will work flexibly across a range of service delivery sites in accordance with accountability and compliance standards, including the provision of outreach support to ensure service accessibility.  

About you

• Hold a Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or related tertiary discipline and experience in intake, assessment and delivery of therapeutic interventions for victims of Family Violence
• Are Registration with an appropriate professional body e.g. AASW (desirable)
• Demonstrated experience in comprehensive risk assessment using the MARAM framework
• Ability to implement trauma informed approaches to practice
• Experience in responding to various presentations of victims of family violence
• Proof of right to work in Australia
• A current Victorian Drivers Licence
