The Eastern Star Foundation funds initiatives that help older Australians live with dignity, independence, and choice. They're a small, hands-on philanthropic foundation born from the sale of an aged care facility, shaped by decades of community service, and now entering one of the most significant chapters in their history.
They're looking for one new Non-Executive Director. Someone who wants to do real work, not just attend meetings.
ESF directors don't sit at arm's length. You'll assess grant applications, visit grantees, engage with investment managers, and help carry the Foundation's values forward as they prepare for a generational transition on the Board.
This is a volunteer role. Four or five board meetings a year, plus the AGM and our Annual Grantee Presentation. Mostly weekday daytime, mix of online and in-person. Queensland-based strongly preferred; Northern NSW workable.
Skills matter particularly investment oversight, financial literacy, and philanthropy or grant-making experience. But this appointment is as much about who you are as what you've done.
We need someone who:
Board experience is welcome. It's not required.
We're aiming for an interim appointment by August/September, ahead of member ratification at the November AGM.
You must submit an Expression of Interest with a brief board CV by clicking 'Apply now'.
