About the Role

We are seeking an Admin and Community Engagement Worker to join our dynamic team at the Fusion Oakleigh Youth and Community Centre. This is a hands-on role that combines administration, program coordination, and community development to strengthen the local Oakleigh and Hughesdale communities.

Working 20 hours per week, you’ll help deliver programs and initiatives that build social connection, wellbeing, and resilience among community members. The ideal candidate will be community-minded, organised, and passionate about making a difference.

Key Responsibilities

Community Development & Program Coordination

  • Research local needs and design community programs aligned with Fusion’s mission and values.
  • Network with local organisations and services to build partnerships and collaborative programs.
  • Oversee and support programs including food relief, community lunches, and the community garden.
  • Design and deliver community activities such as ladies’ craft nights, wellbeing sessions, and short courses.

Administration & Finance

  • Manage correspondence, phone inquiries, and program communication.
  • Enter bills and manage payments in MYOB; oversee budgets and banking.
  • Coordinate fundraising activities such as Bunnings BBQs.
  • Create marketing materials and manage social media promotion for local events and programs.

Volunteer Coordination

  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers alongside the Youth and Families Worker.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and shared purpose.

Health & Safety

  • Develop and implement risk assessments for programs and events.
  • Ensure compliance with Fusion’s Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies.

About You

You’ll be a proactive and compassionate person who enjoys working with a diverse range of people. You bring strong administrative skills, creativity in community engagement, and a heart for local impact.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification or experience in community work, youth work, or not-for-profit programs.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and accounting software (e.g., MYOB).
  • Experience managing volunteers or small teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with stakeholders, partners, and community members.

Other Requirements

  • Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
