About the position

Council’s Community Strengthening Department is looking for a Community Development Officer who will play a key part in supporting community centre staff, volunteers, and partners to actively engage with the community, develop and implement a diverse range of programs, services, and events that meet local needs, build community capacity, and enable social and economic participation for all local residents.

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Engage community, particularly marginalised and hard to reach residents to identify priorities and needs.
  • Develop, deliver and evaluate a range of community development programs, activities and events to meet local needs.
  • Develop strong and positive partnerships with residents, community groups, community service organisations and government agencies to achieve objectives.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of local services, community organisations, agencies and the education sector encouraging engagement and participation.

About you

  • Qualifications in community development or related field, with proven experience in similar roles.
  • Strong organisational, time management, and self-motivation skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, databases, and social media.

This position is a Band 5 currently remunerated at $78,589.24 per annum, plus superannuation. Overtime will also be paid as required.
