 About Us 

The francis foundation is a registered not-for-profit charity based in Warrnambool, dedicated to supporting adults who are experiencing mental health challenges and are at risk of homelessness. Our rooming house, Alveston House, provides a safe and supportive home environment where residents are assisted to live as independently as possible.

The Role 

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Co-ordinator to join our small, committed team. This is a part-time position of up to 20 hours per week with flexibility in how those hours are arranged. The role is based on-site at Alveston House in Warrnambool and is subject to a six-month probationary period.

Reporting directly to the Board of Management, the Co-ordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Alveston House, including resident support, volunteer coordination, financial management tasks, compliance, and community liaison. The Co-ordinator will also liaise with and support the francis foundation op-shop in Port Fairy.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Day-to-day management of Alveston House, liaising with residents, volunteers, donors, service providers, and the Boar
  • Interviewing and selecting residents in accordance with established criteria
  • Providing practical support to residents to help them live as independently as possible, including organising rosters and household routines
  • Managing meals, food ordering, kitchen hygiene, and linen supply to meet health and safety standards
  • Overseeing rent collection, payroll and essential payments 
  • Ensuring health, fire safety, and security compliance, and promptly reporting maintenance issues
  • Coordinating volunteer rosters to ensure daily coverage at Alveston House
  • Participating in community liaison and fundraising activities, including with businesses and donors
  • Ensure the ongoing operation of the francis foundation op-shop by providing support where required
  • Attending monthly board meetings and providing operational reports to the Board of Management 

About You 

You will bring relevant experience working with people experiencing homelessness, mental illness, or other vulnerabilities, along with a genuine commitment to supporting people in need. No specific formal qualification is required, though experience in welfare, community services, business, management or a related field is highly regarded.

You will also demonstrate: 

  • A non-judgmental, respectful, and empathetic communication style
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to multi-task
  • The ability to work effectively with limited supervision
  • Basic computer literacy and accurate record-keeping skills
  • Flexibility and creativity in a changing environment 

Requirements 

  • Satisfactory National Police Check
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence is preferred

Remuneration 

Salary is under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Award, Level 3, with the pay point determined based on experience and qualifications.
