About Us

EthicalJobs.com.au is working to change the world, one job at a time.

We bridge the gap between Australians who want to “work for a better world” and the thousands of for-purpose organisations that tirelessly strive to create that better world.

As a successful, for-profit social enterprise and one of Australia’s top job-search sites for the not-for-profit sector and beyond, we support the work of more than 9,000 for-purpose organisations around the country, and have a passionate community of 380,000+ unique users visiting the site each month.

We also make regular donations to small organisations that are having a big social or environmental impact across Australia – we’ve donated over $1.5 million since 2009, and we’ve catalysed over $1.7 million in donations from the community on top of that.

We’ve consistently grown our overall impact for 14 years since we launched in 2009.

You’ll be joining a dedicated, passionate and successful team of 30 people who share a vision of a more equitable, just and sustainable world.

We work mostly remotely, but you have the option to work from our spacious office in Collingwood which has loads of natural light, high ceilings, standing desks, a large outdoor deck for lunch in the sun and drinks after work, and great food and coffee just around the corner.

About the Role

This role is a full time maternity leave contract role commencing June 2024 and ending April 2025.

This is a rare opportunity to play a leading role in the ongoing success of a fast-growing social enterprise.

You’ll be one of two General Managers leading a dedicated, passionate and successful organisation, with people who share a vision of a more equitable, more just and more sustainable world.

This role has broad oversight of (and support for) three of our key teams:

  • Business Development & Relationship Management – currently 4 people; and
  • Customer Service – currently 8 people.
  • People & Culture – currently 2 people. (Oversight of this team is shared with the other General Manager).

You’ll also manage our Finance Officer.

In this role you’ll get a chance to be involved in our annual strategic planning process (Sept to Jan) which involves our whole organisation.

But most of your time will be in the details of people & processes, supporting your teams to perform at their best, and ensuring our 9,000+ clients have the best experience that’s possible recruiting on our platform, allowing them to more effectively change the world!

About You

You’re a leader who’s worked in a leadership role in a small or medium-sized organisation, including leading a team in business development, sales, fundraising and/or customer engagement.

You enjoy being across the detail of business processes, and particularly improving processes over time, and you love to work with numbers and data to spot trends and gain insights.

And you’re a natural people person. Having managed high performing teams, you're experienced in providing feedback to team members and peers and you welcome feedback too.

You’ve got a good understanding of employee engagement and you’ve got the self-awareness, passion, nous, energy and attention to detail to be successful as a leader in a growing social enterprise.

Finally, you’re someone who’s passionate about making a difference and “working for a better world”, and you’re excited about the work EthicalJobs.com.au does.

What do you get beyond a great remuneration package?

  • Work remotely most days if you’d like
  • Flexibility to work a 9-day fortnight if you’d like
  • Paid professional development opportunities
  • Monthly social events
  • The opportunity to have a real impact on the work of over 9,000 charities and social  enterprises across Australia!

Plus when you’re working in our Collingwood office:

  •  A light- and plant-filled work space, with beautiful outdoor deck for outdoor meetings and drinks, and close to public transport
  • A standing desk
  • Unlimited fruit, nuts, chocolate, tea and coffee
  • Pet-friendly workplace – a number of staff regularly bring their dogs in to make the office more fun.

Our Team Values

We’re:

  • Impactful: We work with purpose and are passionate about building a better world. We’re progressive, seeking to make an impact every day and set an example for ethical work.
  • Caring: We’re compassionate, supportive and proactively help each other out. We have a positive outlook and aim to have fun at work.
