Eating Disorders Families Australia (EDFA) is the only national organisation focused solely on families and carers of those living with eating disorders. A not-for-profit organisation supported by a high-calibre Board, EDFA provides support, education, advocacy, and counselling services to families and carers who are supporting someone with an eating disorder. As our Marketing & Communications Coordinator, you will play a vital role in amplifying EDFA’s mission and supporting our national community of families and carers. You will help shape how EDFA shows up in the world - creating engaging content, strengthening our digital presence, and supporting campaigns, events, and initiatives that raise awareness, grow connection and drive meaningful impact. Working closely with the National Marketing & Communications Manager, you’ll bring creativity, organisation, and heart to every project you lead.
EDFA is a fully remote organisation, with staff located around Australia. This role can be performed from anywhere nationally, and we offer flexible working arrangements to support work‑life balance.

Duties:
Digital & Website Management
- Keep the EDFA website vibrant and engaging by uploading blogs, imagery, videos, and creating new pages.
- Maintain website health and functionality, ensuring SEO best practice and accessibility.
- Manage and organise digital asset libraries, including photography and video content.
Social Media & Community Engagement
- Drive our social media - develop, schedule, and publish social media content across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Deliver community‑focused messaging that aligns with EDFA’s tone and values.
- Run and optimise social media advertising campaigns to increase reach and engagement.
Marketing & Creative Content
- Support the creation of marketing collateral from concept development to Canva design.
- Map and manage supporter journeys using our CRM, Constant Contact, to nurture deeper engagement.
- Assist with set-up, monitoring, and optimisation of Google Ads.
Continuous Improvement
- Apply strong attention to detail and a mindset for ongoing optimisation across all comms and campaigns.
- Work effectively in a fast‑paced environment with competing deadlines.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure all communications, content, and interactions reflect EDFA’s commitment to safe, high‑quality support for families and carers.
- Follow EDFA’s Code of Conduct, policies and procedures, including privacy, child safety, and ethical communication guidelines.
- Identify and report any risks, issues, or incidents that may impact service quality, organisational reputation, or community safety.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement of communication processes, digital systems, and resources.
- Uphold the National Child Safe Standards in all work, particularly when creating or sharing content involving or relating to young people.
- Maintain a safe and compliant remote working environment.
Team Support
- Work collaboratively with the National Marketing & Communications Manager and the broader EDFA team, including contractors and volunteers, to deliver cohesive, aligned communications.
- Actively participate in team meetings and relevant professional development or training opportunities.
- Provide administrative, coordination, and project support to the National Marketing & Communications Manager as required to ensure smooth delivery of marketing and communications initiatives.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Essential
- Minimum five years’ experience in marketing, communications, digital media, or content‑focused roles.
- Tertiary qualification in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Public Relations, or a related discipline.
- Strong content creation skills with the ability to write, edit, and tailor messages for different platforms and audiences.
- Proficiency with WordPress or a similar CMS, including confidence updating content, managing assets, and basic formatting.
- Demonstrated experience managing social media channels, including content planning, scheduling, and engagement across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Capability in designing digital assets using Canva, including strong visual judgment and brand consistency.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and work independently in a remote setting.
- Ability to support conferences and events, including assisting with marketing, logistics coordination, communications, promotions, and on‑the‑day support (remote or in‑person depending on location).
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all written, visual, and digital outputs.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with a remote team, stakeholders, volunteers, and program facilitators.
- Commitment to EDFA’s mission, values, and trauma‑informed communication principles.
- Understanding of confidentiality, privacy and ethical communication, particularly when working with sensitive or lived‑experience content.
- Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable
- Experience working in the not‑for‑profit, health, mental health or carer‑support sectors.
- Lived experience as an eating disorder carer (helpful but not essential).
- Experience with Constant Contact or similar email marketing/CRM platforms, including supporter journey mapping and audience segmentation.
- Skills in video editing, motion graphics, or basic multimedia production.
- Understanding of social media advertising, analytics, and campaign optimisation.
- Experience with Google Ads, including monitoring and optimisation.
- Fundraising campaign experience (highly regarded).
- Knowledge of SEO principles, website performance practices, or basic analytics (e.g. Google Analytics).
- Familiarity with digital asset management systems or structured file organisation.
