Who we're looking for

As part of our Financial Counselling Team at Boronia and Ringwood, EACH is looking for 2 Financial Counsellors - 1 with Generalist experience, the other with Generalist and Gambling experience, on a part-time basis 9.00am to 5.00pm with one evening after hours to 8pm at Ringwood (ideally 0.8EFT Ringwood and 0.6EFT Boronia) to provide professional financial counselling and support to clients to reduce financial hardship and financial difficulties resulting from a range of factors including but not limited to gambling-related harm, mental health and family violence. Our ideal candidate will already be working in this space, either fully or partially qualified in Diploma of Community Services - Financial Counselling and eligible for membership of Financial Counselling Victoria (FCVic).

As someone working in this area, you'll have demonstrated competence in an area of clinical practice, preferably in a multidisciplinary team context and with clients with multiple or complex needs. An understanding of the Social Determinants of Health and the Social Model of Health approach and health promotion, with previous experience in the not-for-profit sector or an appreciation and understanding of community organisations and their operation will help you navigate the referral pathways for clients.

What you'll be doing

You will be providing financial counselling intake, assessment, information and options to clients contacting the service. Meeting with clients (via a combination of both face to face at our office and/or via Telehealth remotely) to deliver financial counselling casework and advocacy using an integrative service model to support clients, as well as drawing on your skills to implement a plan of management. You will be required to meet targets set by our funding body and supervision will be provided with peers and an appropriately qualified internal supervisor.

The Financial Counsellor will be servicing the Outer East Region as part of an Integrated Services Team (IST) with colleagues comprising of other Financial Counsellors, Gamblers Help Therapeutic Counsellors, Community Engagement staff and/or Alcohol and Other Drugs counsellors. The role may also involve out posted work.

Who you'll be working with

Our Financial Counselling service offers support, advice and information to people experiencing financial difficulty. We provide a range of professional services across the Outer Eastern Region of Melbourne.

The Financial Counsellor will be servicing the Outer East Region as part of the Integrated Services Team (IST) with colleagues comprising of other Financial Counsellors, Therapeutic Counsellors and Community Engagement staff. The IST in the Outer East is comprised of Alcohol and Other Drugs and Gambler's Help programs. The role will also involve out posted work.
