THE OPPORTUNITY

Club21 Northern Victoria Region is a social program for adults with Down syndrome aimed at fostering friendship, peer support, and community inclusion. Club21 promotes inclusion and acceptance of people with Down syndrome in the general community. The social activities will be held on weekends in the Northern Victoria Regions of Bendigo, Echuca, Shepparton and/or Wangaratta. We have had a great response to this program and are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced facilitator to lead and organise these activities within these community areas with our wonderful participants. This is a casual position that may suit someone already working in the disability sector looking for some additional work which would complement their current role/s.

ABOUT US

Down Syndrome Victoria is the state-wide peak membership organisation representing individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Down Syndrome Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation established in 1978 to provide support, information and resources to people with Down syndrome, their families and the broader community. We work alongside people with Down syndrome and their families to reach their potential and live the lives they choose.

THE ROLE INVOLVES:

• Supporting adults with Down syndrome to take part in activities as a group.
• Meeting group members at a pre-determined location.
• Creating opportunities for adults with Down syndrome to extend their networks, voice their opinions and enhance their social skills, confidence, and leadership skills.
• Assisting members to develop skills in money handling and making choices.
• Leading and supporting volunteers at group activities.
