Disability Rights Advocacy Service Incorporated (DRAS) is part of the national network of Disability Advocacy Services funded by the Australian government. DRAS provides individual and systemic advocacy for people with disabilities, their families and their carers.

The DRC Advocate:

It is a role with DRAS and the position will be responsible to the CEO, under the direction of the DRC Advocacy Coordinator, providing high quality advocacy to assist people with disabilities, their families and carers living in South Australia, to access and make submissions to the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability.

Special Conditions:

The DRC Advocate position provides a part time, fixed term contract until December 2021, with the possibility of an extension. The successful applicant will work from home and in community settings. The applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a DCSI Vulnerable Persons Screening and National Criminal History Record Check (NCHRC) prior to being employed. Applicants will also be required to hold current First Aid and Child Safe Environments certificates. Must hold a current Australian issued drivers licence (equivalent to minimum class C South Australian), and have use of their own roadworthy car as required (this requirement may be waived for people who cannot drive because of the impact of their disability).

The position is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Award 2010 (SCHCADS)
