Dress for Success NSW & ACT (DFS NSW & ACT) is an affiliate of Dress for Success Worldwide. DFSS is a registered charity that improves the employability of disadvantaged women, trans women and non-binary people comfortable in women’s spaces who are in need in NSW. This is achieved by providing, free of charge, professional clothing, a network of support, coaching and career development tools to help women achieve self-sufficiency. The Illawarra boutique is located in Warrawong (just south of Wollongong) and this branch supports hundreds of women in need every year across the Illawarra region, offering a chance to transform their lives by securing a job with confidence.

POSITION

DFS is looking for a dynamic and interpersonal Operations Manager with strong organisational and administrative experience, a growth mindset, and excellent stakeholder and client service management skills to manage DFS operations in the Illawarra region.

The Illawarra Operations Manager is responsible for the planning, and management of the day-to-day branch operations of local DFS services. This role ensures DFS delivers their strategic priorities in the Illawarra region, while supporting the local team with client service delivery and the Volunteer Committee with associated local operational initiatives. The role has a significant business development emphasis through building connections with employment, community and funding partners and growing the service operations of the Illawarra boutique.

The Illawarra Operations Manager role is 22.5 hours a week spread over 4 days.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the Illawarra Dress for Success service ensuring outcomes align with strategic priorities, KPI’s and within assigned budgets.
  • Developing and fostering partnerships including referral agencies, community services and funding partners.
  • Working with the DFS Summer Hill and Newcastle branches, DFS HQ Management team and Referral Agency Working Group (RAWG).
  • Representing the DFS team on the Illawarra Volunteer Committee to ensure transparent communication and alignment of local activities with the DFS NSW & ACT strategy.
  • Monitoring and reporting on budget performance and KPI’s.
  • Implement volunteer recruitment, onboarding and training of Illawarra volunteers, and provide direct support and supervision to local volunteers.
  • Direct line management for the Illawarra Operations Assistant.
  • Overseeing the coordination of client appointments, volunteer rostering and overseeing showroom services provided by volunteer teams.
  • Overseeing stock management and execution of clothing donation sustainability strategy.
  • Supporting Illawarra volunteer events committee with event activities.
  • Supporting volunteer marketing committee and liaising with DFSS Marcoms team to ensure the best fit promotion of DFS in Illawarra is achieved, including coordination of marketing collateral, collection of quality client stories, social media posting and other marketing activities. 
  • Ensuring maintenance and currency of client and partner agency data for Illawarra on DFSCRM.
  • Managing all WH&S policies and practices at Illawarra showroom as well as relationships with relevant service providers.
  • Monitoring and reviewing client satisfaction levels, response to feedback, complaints, with reporting to DFS CEO

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  • Growth mindset with proven business development abilities.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to effectively coordinate a range of concurrent activities under pressure.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders across a range of industries.
  • Medium-High level Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent team-work skills.
  • Proven experience managing a team.
  • Previous experience working with or providing services to vulnerable, disadvantaged and CALD communities.
  • Proven experience using CRM, volunteer and membership database experience, Salesforce preferred.
  • Passion and/or interest in the mission of DFS.
  • Ability to travel to Sydney 4-6 times per year.
  • Hold a current NSW Working with Children Check.
  • Unrestricted rights to work in Australia.

Desired:

  • Previous experience working in the not-for-profit or employment services sectors in the Illawarra Region.
  • Previous experience managing volunteers.
  • Interest in sustainability and circular economy
  • Interest in fashion and styling
