About the Role

The Risk, Safety and Compliance Manager is part of the Finance and Operations team. You will be responsible for leading operational processes, project implementation and continual improvements associated with Camp Quality's risk, safety and compliance initiatives, practices, governance and systems; with a focus on safeguarding children and young people (SCYP) and workplace risk, health and safety. You will be responsible for driving new safety initiatives and your expertise will be invaluable in supporting our teams with a wide array of matters pertaining to compliance and safety for the children and families we assist. You will manage and lead our relationship with the Australian Childhood Foundation, and work closely with our Executive and Leadership teams.

Experience and Knowledge

  • 5+ years' experience gained in a similar role - working with children and their families and / or volunteers
  • A demonstrated track record in managing operational risk and / or compliance
  • A sound knowledge and understanding of the National Principles of Child Safe Organisations
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant SCYP and workplace health and safety legislation
  • Experience driving innovation and leveraging technology to ensure the continual improvement of risk management
  • Experience leading key projects, collaboratively across teams on time and within budget

Qualifications and Training

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in compliance, risk and safety, ideally with a focus on safeguarding children and young people
  • Extensive training in SCYP legislation and related frameworks

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Extremely organised, methodical and with a keen eye for detail
  • Sound analytical and investigative skills with the ability to think critically
  • Highly organised and adaptable with the ability to prioritise, meet tight deadlines and successfully coordinate multiple tasks
  • A demonstrated willingness to work as a collaborative team member
  • The ability be a champion for Camp Quality's WHS plans, policies and procedures
  • Current driver's license and a current Working With Children Check
  • Some out-of-hours work and inter/intra state travel may be required
