The Opportunity:

We currently have an opportunity for an NDIS Senior Accountant to lead the Finance team at CHCS Ltd. The Senior Accountant will be required to apply advanced accounting principles and procedures to analyse financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures are in place. This role will also ensure and oversee financial regulation, audit compliance and lead financial audits. This role is crucial in the month-end and year-end close processes and involves providing supervision to direct reports.

Key Responsibilities and Criteria:

  • Lead and manage the timely and accurate completion of financial close processes; complex general ledger accounts and journal entries; produce compliant financial statements; and conduct detailed financial analysis, including budget-to-actual variance reviews.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, taxation requirements, and regulatory obligations and maintain compliance with key regulatory bodies, including the ATO, Fair Work, ACNC, and applicable Australian Accounting Standards.

  • Collaborate with the CEO to lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities; develop and maintain accounting policies and internal controls; manage financial and payroll systems; and ensure accurate integration and synchronisation of accounting, payroll, and operational platforms to support efficient and reliable financial management.

  • Manage NDIS financial operations by ensuring accurate billing and claims in line with NDIS pricing guidelines, monitoring cash flow and revenue sources, overseeing payroll and employee leave entitlements, and managing end-to-end financial processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely resolution of discrepancies.

  • Provide technical guidance, training, and supervision to staff on financial and accounting practices, while collaborating with departmental leaders to support project accounting, expense management, and budget monitoring across the organisation.

  • Coordinate financial administration and stakeholder liaison activities, including DGR certificates, salary packaging, banking and financial services, while working closely with the CEO and Board Treasurer to implement approved budgets, manage cash flow, and monitor the organisation’s overall financial performance and sustainability.

Preferred Qualifications:

●   Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

●   CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent professional certification (e.g., CA, ACCA, CIMA).

●   A minimum of 2-3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with experience in public accounting or a combination of not for profit and private industry experience.

●   A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the NDIS sector.

To be successful in this role you will require:

  • Meticulous attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously with limited supervision using professional judgement where appropriate.

  • High level computer skills including experiences using payroll software.
