About the role

Parkville Youth Justice Precinct is a youth custodial facility that accommodates young people. The primary health service is a nurse-led model, with 24/7 on-site nursing coverage. At Parkville, cohealth aims to deliver a quality, flexible, integrated, efficient service within the custodial environment to young people based on their health needs. 

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) provides operational and clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of high‑quality, safe and person‑centred health services. This role leads the nursing team, oversees daily operations, manages resources, and ensures effective coordination of care within the unit.

Your duties include:

  • Facilitating communities of practice, promoting reflective practice, and workplace coaching interventions
  • Ensuring ongoing clinical competence by coordinating individual and team professional development activities
  • Serve as a direct report to all nursing staff such as leave and rostering, recruiting, inducting and orientating
  • Assess data and trends relating to health presentations and demographic groups to monitor client outcomes and guide relevant quality improvement strategies

Our ideal candidate:

  • Current AHPRA registration (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse or Registered Mental Health Nurse
  • Knowledge of the Youth Justice System and understanding of the restrictions, limitations and considerations health care delivery within this system
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong belief and personal alignment in cohealth Values and Mission
