Code Black is a Melbourne-based SME delivering services across Australia and New Zealand with a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to addressing interpersonal harms and complex behavioural challenges. The team provides services in cases of persistent aggression, stalking, family violence, sexual and gender-based violence, and occupational violence and aggression. We are a values-based organisation that combines the use of forensic behavioural science with person-centred practice to create the contexts and capacity building needed for sustainable behavioural change.
Code Black clients are individuals and organisations affected by complex and persistent interpersonal harms, such as stalking, bullying, harassment, family violence, and coercive control. We primarily serve clients who experience or perpetrate these behavioural patterns where traditional interventions have had limited effect. This includes victim-survivors seeking safety and rehabilitation, perpetrators requiring behaviour interventions, and organisations needing expert consultation or training to manage psychosocial hazards. The clients we serve range in age from early adolescence to late adulthood.
We have redefined meaningful behaviour support as both a risk mitigation and communication empowerment process. We believe that every person deserves to live with dignity and autonomy and that positive behaviour support is a change process that enables people with disabilities to live life their way. We focus on changing environments of concern so that the conditions needed to tune in effectively to the wants, needs, and goals of people with disabilities are created. We believe that all behaviours are communication and that behaviour change hinges on figuring out how best to empower the human needs driving the use of high-harm behaviours like violence.
As a behaviour support practitioner with Code Black you’ll have autonomy in your work, access to exceptional clinical supervision, and the chance to make measurable change in people’s lives — all within a supportive, growth-focused team. If you’re a curious, humble and skilled practitioner who wants real impact (without the burnout), Code Black is where you’ll thrive.
We seek behaviour support practitioners who are endorsed within the NDIS PBS Capability Framework. Practitioners complete behavioural assessments, risk assessments and functional behavioural analyses for those with cognitive impairments and/or psychosocial disabilities. Our practitioners work closely with multiagency care teams in cases where the person with a disability has, or is at risk of, involvement with the criminal justice sector.
The role is preferred to be full-time, although applicants seeking a 4-day per week position will be considered.
The role includes opportunities to have involvement with other projects at Code Black, including risk assessment, training, mentoring industry, and workplace consulting.
You will be part of a team with a focus on collaboration in case discussions, peer supervision, creative problem solving and support for each other in challenging work.
Code Black is an equal opportunity employer: we encourage flexibility for our team members balancing life’s demands, with time and support to undertake ongoing professional development through an engaging career. We offer a balance of working from home and from our office in the Malvern area.
An attractive salary package will be offered to the right candidate depending upon qualifications and experience, plus super and leave entitlements.
