Operations Coordinator / Lead Dog Walker

City Sniffers

ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION

City Sniffers is a modern, ethical dog walking and care business based on Gadigal Land in Sydney’s Inner West, operating since 2019.

We are a for-profit social enterprise focused on improving dogs’ quality of life through safe, structured, and enriching daily experiences, while raising industry standards.

We believe dogs deserve more than just a walk. Our work focuses on enrichment, structure, and socialisation, helping dogs build confidence, behaviour, and calm group dynamics in real-world environments.

We collect dogs from their homes, transport them in small groups, take them on structured walks, and return them home, ensuring they receive meaningful exercise, stimulation, and social interaction. Dogs are transported in a company vehicle as part of daily operations

We carefully assess each dog’s temperament and suitability through a meet and greet process, and only take on dogs we can safely support.

We are a small, growing team focused on high standards, strong systems, and positive impact.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a hybrid role combining operations coordination and hands-on dog care.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring our daily services run smoothly by planning, coordinating, and delivering structured, enriching experiences that improve dogs’ wellbeing.

This role involves real ownership. You’ll manage day-to-day operations on the ground, support a small team, and work directly with dogs.

You may not be required to walk dogs every day, however, you are responsible for ensuring all services are staffed and delivered.

Key Responsibilities

Dog care & service delivery

  • Deliver structured off lead group walks (up to 4 dogs solo, or 8 with another staff member)
  • Manage behaviour, recall, and group dynamics
  • Monitor dog health and wellbeing throughout the day
  • Capture photos and videos and provide updates to clients via our app or social media

Operations & coordination

  • Schedule dogs into suitable groups based on behaviour, location, and staff
  • Build and manage rosters (Connecteam)
  • Plan daily routes, pickups, and logistics
  • Ensure all services are staffed and delivered
  • Support and coordinate team members and contractors

Systems & improvement

  • Manage tasks and priorities using agreed tools, ensuring visibility and accountability
  • Identify gaps and improve systems, processes, and workflows
  • Use technology (including automation or AI) to improve efficiency
  • Take ownership of outcomes and resolve issues as they arise

  • A strong communicator with clients and team members
  • Comfortable using digital tools and open to improving systems and workflows
  • Professional, reliable, and able to represent the business in public
  • Motivated, self-directed, and interested in growing with a small business

You’re comfortable:

  • Managing or directing other staff or contractors

  • Working in a physically active, outdoor role in all conditions

Requirements

  • Confident and safe driver, comfortable driving a company van
  • Experience handling dogs, either professional or personal
  • NSW Police Check, or willingness to obtain

  • Physically capable of handling multiple dogs

Desirable

  • Experience as a professional dog walker, vet nurse, trainer, or similar.
  • Experience walking dogs off-lead in unenclosed areas
  • Interest or study in dog training or animal behaviour
  • Experience in operations, logistics, or coordination
  • Based within ~30–40 minutes of Inner West Sydney
  • Interest in community, social impact, or volunteering
