Senior Planner - Community Health and Safety

Yarra City Council is looking for an able and self-motivated person for the position of Senior Planner, Community Health and Safety to work within the Social Strategy Unit. You will be part of the Social Strategy and Community Development Branch in the Community Wellbeing Division which focuses on the development of responsive social strategy, planning and research with an emphasis on community development, encouraging community connections and growth in community capacity.

In addition to driving a diverse range of population health and community safety initiatives, you will oversee the delivery of the current Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, embedded within the Council Plan. This plan is underpinned by a strong focus on upstream primary prevention, inter-agency coordination, better engaged and supported communities and continued attention to marginalised and disadvantaged people.

To apply, you’ll need tertiary qualifications in the social sciences or related field and a proven track record in applied research, project management and evaluation in a local government or comparable context.
