About the role

This role sits in the Inclusion and wellbeing team as part of the Community Life division which strives to develop healthy, active, connected and safe communities through the delivery of community facilities, events, experiences and life cycle services from birth to older age.

The Purpose of Access and Inclusion Officer is to address systemic social and financial disadvantage in the City of Casey in order to create an empowered and resilient community where every community member can live a healthy life and feel safe, connected and included.

In this role, you will:

  • Apply strategic thinking to address the systemic social disadvantage in the City of Casey through a planned community development approach.
  • Develop, design and deliver evidence-informed programs, tailored to meet the needs of the City of Casey, that create long term sustainable change.
  • Facilitate and support the Casey Cardinia Homelessness Network and deliver initiatives across Council and via community partnerships to address systemic disadvantage.
  • Coordinate and implement the Diversity, Access and Inclusion Policy and related frameworks, strategies and action plans with a focus on disadvantage and other diversity, access and inclusion areas.
  • Collaborate and provide advice and support to Council and community projects, activities, events and service provision on issues relating to social disadvantage to improve access and inclusion for Casey’s diverse community.
  • Facilitate training, education and networking opportunities for Council staff and volunteers, community groups and organizations, related to diversity, access and inclusion issues. To build the capacity of Council and community on inclusive practice

About you

  • Degree or diploma in the broad fields of community services including Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, Youth Work, Education, Public Health, Public Policy.
  • Proven experience in social services and/or community development.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of a range of programs within designated timeframes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people, community groups and networks; including financially disadvantaged and low socioeconomic cohort and other diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to educate and advocate on social disadvantage and other diversity and access issues.
  • National Criminal History Check & Working with Children Check
  • Driver's License which is valid to drive within Victoria.
