Community Information and Support Glen Eira (CIS Glen Eira) is a branch of CISVic, a not‑for‑profit community organisation. CIS Glen Eira provides information, referral, advocacy and support services, including emergency relief, and connects volunteers with local volunteer opportunities.
About the role
The Community Support Team Leader supports the day‑to‑day operations and volunteer‑led service delivery of CIS Glen Eira. This includes services such as emergency relief, counselling, No Interest Loans, casework, energy assistance, education support and Tax Help.
The role also supports the recruitment, training and coordination of volunteers and oversees the Volunteers of Glen Eira program.
Key responsibilities
Service delivery:
- Support the smooth daily operation of services and provide guidance to workers and volunteers
- Maintain the client booking system
- Induct, train and support volunteers and students across service programs
- Attend student liaison meetings and complete required documentation
- Coordinate food purchases and donations for the Emergency Relief program
- Prepare monthly service rosters
Volunteer Resource Service:
- Respond to volunteer enquiries and related correspondence
- Collect, manage and report data using systems including Viktor and Better Impact
- Prepare reports as required
- Liaise with local Volunteer‑Involving Organisations
- Maintain directories and databases of volunteer organisations and roles
Stakeholder engagement:
- Participate in relevant local networks
Internal obligations:
- Contribute to CISVic’s strategic and operational plans
- Attend and actively participate in team and working group meetings
About you
You will bring:
- A relevant welfare‑related qualification and experience in the community sector
- Knowledge of the issues affecting disadvantaged individuals and communities
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse people
- Experience in a supervisory or leadership role
- An ethical, self‑motivated and values‑driven approach
Highly desirable:
- Experience working with volunteer teams
Pre‑employment requirements:
- Victorian Police Check
- Working with Children Check
