Assistant Manager

Reporting to the Manager, the Assistant Manager’s responsibilities are broad and require a well-rounded skill set in all areas of operations, administration, management, interpersonal skills and customer relations.

The Assistant Manager will support the Manager to meet their responsibility to manage the operating activities of the Centre along with occupational health and safety requirements, service delivery obligations, and day to day administration of the Centre. This includes assisting the Manager to coordinate training, supervision, and monitoring work practices of CCC staff and volunteers performing this administration.

The Assistant Manager will have direct responsibility for staff management and program development of customer service, recreation programs, festivals/events, holiday activities, Community Café, and volunteer management.

  • Project Management and Organisational Skills - Demonstrated project management and delivery of initiatives and agreed outputs within set timelines. Ability to effectively plan and organise one’s time to achieve goals, prioritize tasks and allocate time and resources accordingly to ensure completion; manage multiple tasks and organize time accordingly, and make use of resources available to assist in achieving these goals. Demonstrated administrative skills.
  • Community programming – Demonstrated community programming experience with positive outcomes, including budget management.
  • People Management Skills - Exceptional interpersonal skills, including negotiation, conflict resolution skills, relationship building/networking, communication, leadership, and performance feedback.
  • Leadership Skills - Ability to guide and motivate staff, problem solve, and make decisions.
  • Teamwork - Ability to work effectively in a team environment, work collaboratively with others, and be part of a team.
  • Written Skills – Prepare accurate, well-written reports, promotional material, and emails.
  • IT skills - Demonstrated competency in the use of office equipment and computer software applications that support office automation, in particular Microsoft Office Word and Excel, Vettrak, Trybooking, Weebly (website), Facebook, Instagram, Canva. Zoom.

Terms of Employment

  • The position of Assistant Manager is an ongoing position (with a 3-month probation period).
  • The appointment will be 35 hours per week. The schedule of hours is 8:45am-4:15pm Monday to Friday with flexibility to ensure programming needs are met. Accordingly, evening and weekend hours may be required.
  • Wages and employment conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 5.
