About the role

The CEPU SA is the South Australian branch of the national Communications, Electrical and Plumbing Union, within the Electrical Trades Union division. We are a trade union representing thousands of electricians, plumbers, linesworkers, and various other workers across a wide range of industries and employers, all across the state.

We are seeking a locally based Industrial Officer to join our branch to work with organisers and members to provide advice, assistance, and representation in all manner of workplace matters, as well as assisting with branch campaigns, preparing reports and submissions, and reviewing draft legislation.

There will also be opportunities to engage with our union at a national level, as well as with other unions locally.

About you

The ideal candidate will:

• hold a law degree and a South Australian practising certificate
• hold a current driver’s license
• have strong values and a commitment to unionism, human rights, and social justice
• have knowledge and experience in employment law and industrial relations
• have strong time management skills and be able to work with minimal supervision
• have strong communication skills, and provide advice and information in a timely manner
• be capable of working independently, running matters in the South Australian Employment Tribunal, Fair Work Commission, and Federal Court
