Carers Victoria is the state’s peak for-purpose organisation dedicated to ensuring that the 1 million unpaid carers across Victoria are understood, recognised, and supported. We provide free advice, deliver events and education, connect carers to vital respite activities, and analyse data to influence systemic change. The Opportunity
As a vital member of our Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the General Manager – Carer Networks and Impact will develop and maintain critical carer network groups that deliver support to carers.
Key Areas of Focus
In this role, you will lead the Carer and Sector Impact functions to improve the wellbeing of carers, build network capacity, and administer local small grants. Your focus areas will include:
- Education and Sector Development: Drive the creation and delivery of targeted educational programs, balancing geographic demand, delivery modalities, and team capacity.
- Ecosystem Stewardship: Strengthen our position as a key connector by collaborating with local councils, neighbourhood housing, peer-support groups, and grant recipients.
- Operational Compliance & Legislative Preparedness: Drive robust policy development, ensure operational compliance, and advise the Executive Leadership Team on upcoming legislative changes and risks.
- Strategic Partnerships: Build and sustain mutually beneficial partnerships with health, university, corporate, philanthropic, and community sector partners.
- Strategic People Leadership: Inspire, motivate, and coach teams, fostering an agile culture that rewards initiative and facilitates cross-functional collaboration.
About You
To be successful in this executive position, you will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Sector & Government Expertise: Deep understanding of health and human services, state/federal policy processes, and experience operating within government-funded environments. Established networks within these sectors are highly desirable.
- Sector networks: Deep understanding of health and human services and the Victorian organisations involved in the delivery (and support of) these. Established networks, or demonstrated capacity to readily build these, within these sectors. Strong knowledge of Victorian carer ecosystem highly regarded.
- Program & Grant Delivery: Proven experience designing and delivering programs that support sector development and education
- Grant Management: experience administering robust grant management processes.
- Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to cultivate and sustain high-trust relationships with internal executives, board committees, government bodies, and diverse external stakeholders.
- Advanced Reporting Skills: Ability to produce succinct, insightful reports that effectively communicate key information to support data-driven decision-making.
- Proactive Leadership: A self-motivated, results-driven professional who leads by example, ensuring all workplace interactions are considerate and respectful of identity, culture, and diversity.
