Carers ACT

Share The Care!

As a trusted partner in care, we enable carers in the ACT to undertake their caring role with capacity and capability.

Lead an organisation that changes lives.

Carers ACT is the leading not-for-profit organisation supporting carers across the ACT.

We are the leading voice for unpaid carers, advocating for greater recognition, support and opportunities to improve their wellbeing and participation in the community. Alongside this advocacy role, we deliver respite, disability and post-hospital services, group programs, and essential support through the Carer Gateway, helping carers and the people they support to thrive.

With strong governance, a committed volunteer Board and an experienced, values-driven workforce, Carers ACT is recognised as a trusted leader in the community. As our next CEO, you will have the opportunity to lead an organisation that creates lasting impact for carers, their families and the ACT community.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead one of the ACT's leading community organisations and make a genuine difference to the lives of carers and the people they support.

As Chief Executive Officer, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across advocacy, service delivery, organisational performance and financial sustainability. Working in partnership with the Board, you will strengthen organisational capability, lead a committed Executive team and build influential relationships with government, funders, community organisations and the Carer Gateway network.

You will ensure Carers ACT continues to deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred services while positioning the organisation for long-term sustainability, growth and impact.

About You

You are an authentic, values-driven executive with a proven ability to lead complex organisations that combine high-quality service delivery with strong community impact. You bring strategic vision, sound commercial and financial acumen, and the ability to build a high-performing, engaged and inclusive organisational culture.

You are equally comfortable leading the delivery of safe, person-centred services as you are representing an organisation with credibility and influence. You are a skilled advocate who builds trusted relationships across government, the community sector and the broader community, using those partnerships to achieve better outcomes for carers and the people they support.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior executive leadership role with responsibility for organisational performance, service delivery, people and financial management.
  • Experience leading government-funded services within the community, health or disability not-for-profit sectors.

  • Demonstrated financial and commercial acumen, including oversight of organisational sustainability and risk.
  • Experience leading organisational strategy, culture, change, digital transformation and innovation.
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement, advocacy and communication skills.
  • Current National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People registration (or ability to obtain).
