The Opportunity

CARE Australia (part of CARE International) is an international aid organisation working to defeat global poverty by supporting women and girls to create lasting change in their communities.

The Digital Content & Social Media Specialist is a hands-on role responsible for delivering CARE Australia’s day-to-day digital content and organic social media presence. Working closely with Communications, Fundraising and wider teams, this role creates, publishes and optimises high-quality content that is on brand, audience-led and effective in supporting fundraising and public engagement priorities. This role requires strong practical capability in video and photo editing and social platform management, not just ideas.

What you’ll do

As the Digital Content & Social Media Specialist, you will:

  • Create, edit, publish and optimise digital and social content across CARE Australia’s owned platforms
  • Produce short and medium-form video optimised for social and digital channels
  • Own day-to-day organic social publishing, community management and moderation
  • Respond to comments and messages and escalate sensitive, reputational or safeguarding issues appropriately
  • Source and adapt content and assets from across CARE Australia and CARE International
  • Apply platform expertise and audience judgement to tailor formats, tone and publishing approaches
  • Support campaign delivery through organic social content
  • Monitor performance and use insights to improve content effectiveness and engagement
  • Edit short and medium-form basic video using Adobe Premiere Pro, producing platform-ready content for social channels
  • Edit images in Adobe Photoshop
  • Use Meta Business Suite to publish content, manage comments and messages, apply moderation judgement and review performance insights

About You

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • Experience creating and publishing organic social and digital content
  • Practical basic video editing experience using Adobe Premiere Pro (or equivalent professional editing software)
  • Strong audience-led judgement and content decision-making
  • Experience managing community engagement and moderation
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders
  • A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and CARE’s values
