About Hepatitis ACT

Hepatitis ACT is the ACT’s leading community organisation dedicated to preventing viral hepatitis, improving health outcomes for people living with or at risk of hepatitis B and hepatitis C, and reducing the stigma and discrimination that prevent people from accessing care.

We deliver testing, treatment navigation, education, outreach, advocacy and harm‑reduction services in partnership with priority communities, including people who inject drugs, people in contact with the justice system, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Our work is grounded in equity, dignity, harm‑reduction, cultural safety and respect for lived experience. We are seeking a CEO who embodies these values and can lead the organisation with authenticity, courage and compassion.

The Opportunity

As CEO, you will be the organisation’s chief advocate, strategist and cultural leader. You will guide Hepatitis ACT’s long‑term direction, strengthen our influence across the ACT and national health sectors, and ensure our services remain evidence‑informed, community‑led and responsive to emerging needs.

You will lead our people, programs, governance, partnerships and financial performance — ensuring Hepatitis ACT remains a trusted voice for priority communities and a respected partner across government, health and community sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead organisational strategy in partnership with the Board, ensuring Hepatitis ACT delivers on its vision, purpose and values.
  • Represent the organisation as a credible, respected advocate, influencing policy, strengthening partnerships and elevating community voice.
  • Ensure high‑quality, equitable and evidence‑informed services that improve outcomes for priority populations.
  • Inspire, develop and lead a high‑performing, values‑driven team, fostering an inclusive, culturally safe and positive organisational culture.
  • Drive long‑term financial sustainability through strong financial management, funding diversification and strategic growth.
  • Maintain robust governance, risk and compliance frameworks, providing transparent reporting and strategic advice to the Board.

About You

We are seeking a CEO who demonstrates:

  • Senior leadership experience within community health, harm‑reduction, not‑for‑profit or related sectors.
  • A values‑anchored leadership style, with a proven ability to inspire, develop and support high‑performing teams.
  • Experience working closely with a Board, providing strategic insight and ensuring strong governance.
  • Success in leading strategic and operational plans that deliver measurable impact and organisational growth.
  • Capability in managing complex, multi‑funded programs, ensuring service quality, performance and continuous improvement.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including budgeting, grant management, government funding and revenue diversification.
  • Well‑developed advocacy and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across government, health and community sectors.
  • Commitment to harm‑reduction, equity, cultural safety and community voice, with the ability to lead in environments shaped by stigma, discrimination and structural barriers.
