The Cancer Epidemiology Division (CED) conducts a broad range of research aimed at expanding our understanding of the factors that contribute to or protect against the development of cancer, or survival following a cancer diagnosis. It comprises a multidisciplinary team of epidemiologists, statisticians, dieticians, data managers and support staff, committed to understanding how to improve our efforts at cancer control.

About your opportunity

We are seeking a Unit Leader, Research Coordination to join the Cancer Epidemiology Division. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Research Operations your role is to:

  • Investigate and provide advice on policy or legislative changes affecting epidemiological research and the ethical conduct of research, including ethical considerations involving human biospecimens and genomic data
  • Oversee participant recruitment, and the conduct of studies across the CED research platforms.
  • Ensure ethical conduct of research and compliance with governance requirements, legislation, guidelines and codes of practice.
  • Lead and manage staff

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Tertiary degree in Science, Health Information Management, or related field
  • Demonstrated understanding of current privacy legislation and ethical considerations that underpin the responsible conduct of epidemiological research, including those related to genetic research and data linkage activities
  • Substantial experience managing research studies involving human participants, including handling sensitive information and preparing submissions and reports for human research ethics committees
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing staff
