The purpose of this position is to work in partnership with local Aboriginal families and community to design and deliver responsive and flexible supports that enhance children’s success in early childhood.

Campbell Page, Mogo Aboriginal Preschool’s Yarn to Learn program is funded by the NSW Department of Education. This program will engage local families in learning experiences with their children in their communities, at community events, playgroups and at the Mogo Aboriginal Preschool.

We want our families to feel confident and active in their child’s development. In this way the program will support Aboriginal families to provide rich home learning environments for young children that support them to reach their developmental milestones.

Our outreach program will focus on and build trusted pathways for families to be active in their children’s learning development including pathways to quality Early Childhood Education.

What does a Family Connection Support Coordinator do?

  • Deliver services to our local community within our Strengths, Trauma Informed and Client Centred Framework.
  • Provide case management, assessment and referral services when required.
  • Deliver parenting programs, playgroups, and other skills-based wellbeing programs.
  • Participate in the development, preparation, and implementation of early intervention strategies.
  • Provide outreach support through flexible delivery arrangements.
  • Assist children and their families to identify and access appropriate services and resources and where required, advocate on their behalf.
  • Provide guidance on wellbeing, raising self-esteem, motivation, education, employment, and safety.
  • Facilitate community access to local activities and professional services

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience working with Children and Families in the human services sector
  • Knowledge of issues faced by local Aboriginal children and their families
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience working with Aboriginal Communities
  • Solid understanding of legislative standards - Equal Employment Opportunity, Privacy, Child Protection
  • Experience working with children and families individually and in groups
  • High level ability to communicate with a diverse range of clients and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in developing community networks
  • Commitment to working in the Human Services Sector
