We are looking for our new team member who will attend to the day-to-day financials within our organisation. Working alongside the management team, this role reports to our General Manager. The position focuses on accounts payable and receivables, balance sheet reconciliations, including bank recs, budgeting and costing, month-end processes, payroll, work in progress calculations and operational projects.

The successful candidate will be hands-on, have a working understanding of processes, good attention to detail and excellent Excel skills. In addition, they will be someone with a positive can-do attitude and the ability to ‘get things done’ in a busy not-for-profit setting.

YOU COULD BE THE ONE IF YOU HAVE:

• 2+ years’ experience in finance officer / finance administration roles
• Accounts receivable / payable / banking / general ledger
• Computer skills, MYOB, Google Suite/Office 365
• Excellent Excel skills and the ability to navigate word documents
• Familiar with project WIP calculations
• The ability to pick up systems and processes quickly
• The desire to work collaboratively in a team within a fast-paced, agile environment
• Solid experience or understanding the community services/not for profit sector
• Problem solving

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

• MYOB & Payroll
• Accounts receivable and payable
• BAS, PAYG, FBT lodgements & ATO transactional reports
• Budgeting & Cash flow
• Profit & Loss statements
• WIP calculation
• Liaison person during annual audits
• Assist with job budgets and acquittals
• Monthly report preparation for management & board
• Some HR e.g. understanding award entitlements, superannuation requirements

LOCATION AND HOURS

This is a part-time role (16 hours per week - flexible across the week) based in our Byron Bay youth centre with some WFH flexibility. Occasional extra hours may be required in busy periods for example EOFY

Located in Northern NSW, BYS is a not-for-profit charitable organisation working with over 1000 vulnerable youth and their families each year. We manage two youth centres and deliver important community support through these venues. We offer a suite of wellbeing, creative and youth culture projects, individual support services and activities that are designed to elevate young peoples’ capacity to move into their adult lives.
