Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC) is the Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) representing the Bunurong people of the South-Eastern Kulin Nation.

We advocate for the protection of Bunurong cultural heritage, the care of Country, and the wellbeing of our community and workforce across Greater Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula and the Bass Coast. Our work is grounded in culture, respect and strong governance.

About the Role

BLCAC is seeking a Community Education Officer to deliver culturally grounded education, learning and training across our Strong Community business unit.

Reporting to the CEO, this role is responsible for developing capability, securing education opportunities and implementing education strategies and initiatives aligned with Bunurong community priorities, cultural authority and organisational objectives.

You will design and deliver culturally appropriate education programs, workshops and training. You will also work closely with community members, Elders and internal teams to ensure education activities reflect community voice and cultural integrity. The role works in partnership with the Community Engagement and Community Development teams to strengthen participation and build pathways from education into capability, employment and opportunity.

This is a hands-on role that combines program design and delivery, stakeholder engagement and coordination to support strong, community-led education outcomes. The role requires a balance of engagement, coordination and accountability to ensure consistent and effective delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver culturally grounded education sessions, workshops, awareness training and learning programs
  • Develop and implement education strategies and initiatives aligned with community priorities and organisational objectives
  • Develop and maintain culturally appropriate education materials, resources and tools to ensure consistent and accurate delivery
  • Work in partnership with the Community Engagement team to ensure Elders and community members inform content, delivery and cultural authority
  • Ensure education activities align with cultural protocols, knowledge ownership and community expectations
  • Facilitate opportunities for community members to contribute to program design and delivery
  • Collaborate with the Community Development team to support participation and pathways from education into capability, employment and opportunity
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, councils, government agencies, training providers and community organisations
  • Identify and secure education and training opportunities that benefit the Bunurong community
  • Coordinate program logistics including bookings, schedules, materials, communications and participant support
  • Monitor participation, feedback and outcomes to support evaluation and continuous improvement
  • Maintain accurate records, reporting and program data, including contributing to evaluation and organisational reporting requirements
  • Prepare written updates, summaries and documentation as required
  • Represent BLCAC in discussions relating to cultural education, training and partnership opportunities
  • Support community members to build confidence, capability and skills to participate in education initiatives.
  • Support the effective use of resources in line with approved budgets and organisational requirements

What You Bring

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in education program development, coordination or delivery
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities or community-controlled organisations (highly regarded)
  • Relevant qualification in education, training, community development or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working with external education providers and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency (Microsoft Office)
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
