Practice Lead - Quality and Compliance - Harbord OOSH

Bloom HR
  • Harbord OOSH, Freshwater, NSW.
  • Full-Time - Onsite - Block Shifts

Are you an experienced OSHC or Early Childhood leader who understands that quality and compliance go hand in hand with strong people leadership?

We are partnering with Harbord OOSH to find an experienced Practice Lead to join the leadership team and play a key role in shaping the future of the service.

Based on site at Harbord Public School in Freshwater, this is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys supporting educators, developing team capability, strengthening compliance practices, and leading from the front.

Working closely with the Centre Director, Assistant Managers, Room Leaders and Educators, you'll help drive a culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement while ensuring the service continues to meet its regulatory obligations and deliver exceptional outcomes for children and families.

About the Role

This is a true leadership role that balances quality, compliance and operational support.

While ensuring compliance with the Education and Care Services National Law, Regulations and National Quality Standard remains a core responsibility, success in this position will come from your ability to mentor and develop educators, build strong relationships and maintain a visible presence within the service.

This is not a desk-bound compliance role. You'll spend time supporting educators on the floor, particularly during busy operational periods, while also contributing to planning, governance and continuous improvement activities.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to act as a Nominated Supervisor and Person in Day-to-Day Charge (PIDDC).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee compliance across the service, ensuring alignment with the Education and Care Services National Law, Regulations and National Quality Standard (NQS).
  • Drive continuous improvement through the review, implementation and monitoring of the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
  • Maintain audit-ready records, documentation and compliance systems.
  • Support Assessment and Rating visits, audits and regulatory requirements.
  • Coach, mentor and support Assistant Managers, Room Leaders and Educators to strengthen capability and knowledge.
  • Promote a strong culture of child safety, quality practice and accountability.
  • Support workforce development by identifying skill gaps and facilitating professional growth opportunities.
  • Oversee medical management, incident reporting, risk management and child safety processes.
  • Monitor staffing ratios, Responsible Person coverage and operational compliance requirements.
  • Support daily service operations across Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care programs.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, school representatives and the broader community.

About You

You are an experienced OSHC or Early Childhood leader who understands that compliance is non-negotiable, but that successful leadership comes from bringing people along on the journey.

You will bring:

  • Diploma, Advanced Diploma or higher qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care, Children's Services, School Age Care or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience as a Coordinator, Educational Leader, Centre Director, Nominated Supervisor, Practice Lead or similar leadership role.
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Quality Framework, National Law and Regulations.
  • Experience supporting quality improvement initiatives, audits and compliance processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach and develop educators and emerging leaders.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A hands-on leadership approach and willingness to support the team where needed.
  • Experience leading teams through change and continuous improvement is highly regarded.

Essential Requirements

  • Current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Approved First Aid qualification
  • Current Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management certifications
  • Child Protection training (CHCPRT025 or equivalent)
  • Willingness to act as a Nominated Supervisor and Person in Day-to-Day Charge (PIDDC)
