Senior Environmental Projects Lead - Hastings

Western Port Biosphere Reserve Foundation

ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION

We’re a small not-for-profit with a big mission: connecting people, place and nature to support a thriving environment and community.

Working in an internationally recognised UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, we bring together science, community knowledge and on-ground action to tackle complex environmental challenges. Our work spans research partnerships, community engagement and practical project delivery — all focused on creating meaningful, lasting impact for our region.

We collaborate with a diverse network including researchers, Traditional Owners, government and community organisations, helping turn evidence into real-world outcomes.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role exists to turn good ideas and strong science into real, on-ground impact.

As our Senior Environmental Projects Lead, you’ll lead the design and delivery of key environmental projects — ensuring they are evidence-based, well-managed and achieve meaningful outcomes for people and nature.

You’ll work closely with our Operations & Projects Manager and broader team to bring together project management, scientific thinking and practical delivery. It’s not just about planning great projects — it’s about making sure they are delivered well and create tangible results.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of science, community and implementation — contributing to initiatives with regional scale and long-term impact.

ABOUT YOU

You’re someone who enjoys bringing structure and momentum to complex projects — and seeing them through to real outcomes.

We’re looking for a candidate who can combine project management expertise with strong analytical and critical thinking. You might come from an environmental science, natural resource management or related background, and have experience delivering projects in a practical, outcomes-focused way.

You’ll likely bring:

  • Experience managing projects from design through to delivery
  • The ability to translate complex ideas into clear, actionable steps
  • Strong organisational and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A focus on quality, outcomes and continuous improvement

Just as importantly, you care about making a meaningful difference — and enjoy working collaboratively with a wide range of partners.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

  • Work with a purpose-driven organisation creating real environmental impact
  • Flexible work arrangements, including consideration of 0.8 FTE for the right candidate
  • Opportunity to work in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve on regionally significant projects
  • Collaborative, supportive team environment
  • Exposure to diverse partnerships across research, government and community sectors
  • Opportunity to contribute to projects that connect science, people and place
