Box Hill Institute | Part-time, Fixed-term position

Play a key role in connecting communities to education opportunities. As a Community Engagement Officer, you will build strong relationships across the community sector to support disadvantaged adult learners and create meaningful pathways into education, training and employment.

This is a part-time (3 days per week), fixed term role until 6th November 2026. Salary is $85,674 per annum, plus 12% superannuation.

About the role

Reporting to the ACFE Program Coordinator, this role is responsible for strengthening connections between Box Hill Institute and the broader community to increase participation in Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE) programs. You will work closely with community organisations, stakeholders and internal teams to identify local needs, promote accessible learning opportunities, and support positive student outcomes for adult learners from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds.

What you'll do:

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with community organisations, service providers and industry stakeholders
  • Promote ACFE programs to increase awareness, participation and engagement
  • Identify and respond to community needs, including emerging skills gaps and local labour market trends
  • Support student recruitment pathways through outreach, referrals and engagement activities
  • Coordinate and lead stakeholder meetings, consultations and collaborative initiatives
  • Work with internal teams (marketing, teaching, admissions) to deliver effective engagement strategies
  • Represent Box Hill Institute at community events, open days and industry forums
  • Provide information, guidance and referrals to prospective students and community groups

About You:

You are a relationship-driven and proactive professional with a passion for community engagement and improving access to education. You thrive on building partnerships, understanding community needs and creating opportunities for positive outcomes.

To be successful, you will have:

  • A relevant AQF Level 6 qualification or higher in community services, community development, education, marketing, business or similar (or equivalent experience)
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement, stakeholder management or the education sector
  • Strong understanding of working with disadvantaged or vulnerable learners in an adult/community setting
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective partnerships and networks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
  • Experience analysing community needs, trends or stakeholder insights
  • High level cultural awareness, empathy and commitment to inclusive practice
  • Alignment with a child-safe, inclusive and values-based workplace
  • Have, or be willing to obtain, Victorian Working with Children Check and National Police Check clearance.
