• The Biography Program

Beyond Words is a purpose-driven, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to honouring the lives of older people through the creation of personal biographies. Based in Victoria, our free service relies on our dedicated team of specially trained volunteers who work alongside older people living in Aged Care Residents in Victoria to capture and preserve their life stories—creating meaningful legacies for families and enriching the wellbeing of participants.

We are seeking a part time, skilled Volunteer Coordinator to lead the recruitment, support and coordination of our volunteer team and ensure the smooth delivery of our biography program.

About the Role

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with key team leads, you will:

• Lead volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training and retention
• Coordinate biography assignments, matching volunteers with client storytellers
• Monitor progress and support volunteers throughout the storytelling process
• Build strong relationships with Lifestyle Coordinators and Care Managers at Aged Care Residences
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting and continuous improvement
• Support volunteer wellbeing, engagement and recognition initiatives

This is a largely work from home, remote role with occasional in-person meetings and events.

About You

You will bring:

• Experience coordinating volunteers in community services, health or NFP settings
• Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills
• Confidence managing sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
• Experience with CRM or volunteer management systems
• High attention to detail and strong administrative capability
• A collaborative approach and ability to guide and support volunteers

Experience in aged care or community services and relevant qualifications is desirable.
