Berry Street’s Northern Specialist Family Violence Service (NSFVS) is a provider and access point for integrated family violence services in the Northern Metro Melbourne sub-region. The service provides a range of support services to families who have experienced family violence.
In line with the Berry Street’s Strategic Plan (2019-2022), The Northern Region are launching a new Family Violence project to support victim survivors who are in the late stages of pregnancy, or with young children, to be safe, thriving and hopeful. It aims to reimagine the future with a prevention and early intervention initiative that recognises children are best served when keeping them safe and together with the non-offending parent (safe and together model).
This role is based between our community access residential facility and our Eaglemont office.
This position is full time and will be expected to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to the project’s design, procedures, implementation and evaluation. The role requires skills and expertise to cover two key areas which are Specialist Family Violence Intensive Case Management, and Groupwork Intake and Facilitation.
Other key responsibilities include the following:
You will hold a minimum Bachelor level qualification in Social Work, recent employment in the family violence sector or equivalency met through the 7 Equivalency Principles in line with Recommendation 209's minimum mandatory qualification requirements. You will have an understanding of the gendered nature of family violence and its impact on victim survivors and their children and an awareness of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008, Child Youth and Families Act and the Multi Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework (MARAM).
The specialised level of this role will require the demonstrated ability to reflect on and analyse complex situations arising from tenancy needs with a capacity to adapt, support and manage change.
