The Mobile Drug Safety (MDS) Practitioner and Needle Syringe Program (NSP) provides leadership to communities in the Bendigo area by taking a community development approach to supporting local and regional harm reduction initiatives. The role also provides a support role to primary and secondary NSP service delivery. The role enhances BCHS’s and partner agencies’ endeavours to reduce community and individual harms around alcohol and other drug (AOD) use. The role will also deliver harm reduction education to clients in the Bendigo area.

The person employed in this role will:

  • Hold a qualification and have experience in Public Health, Community Development, Welfare Studies, Alcohol & Other drug Diploma or other health related discipline;
  • Demonstrate the ability to coordinate the day to day management of harm reduction programs;
  • Have demonstrated ability and experience to undertake direct client harm reduction work;
  • Demonstrate the ability provide and deliver coordinated key educational programs to the target audience and the community;
  • Demonstrate the ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
