Central Desert Native Title Services Ltd (Central Desert) is a recognised native title service provider for the native title claimants and holders of the Central Desert Region of Western Australia which spans nearly one third of the state. This not-for-profit organisation’s primary function is assisting the native title claimants and holders of the region in protecting and advancing their native title rights and interests. The team of research, legal, anthropology, operational and organisational support professionals are passionate about advancing and protecting the native title rights and interests of its native title claimants, native title holders and other constituents, and the Board is currently looking to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer who will champion the organisation’s vision and strategy in line with its values.
Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer will lead the organisation and associated entities, managing a team of around 30 people including six direct reports as well as the organisation’s financial resources. The successful candidate will drive the upcoming development of the strategic plan and implement the agreed strategic goals and objectives. Additionally the Chief Executive Officer will develop and maintain key stakeholder networks, professional partnerships, and collaborative relationships to support the success of the organisation.
The ideal candidate will have achieved success at an executive level in a not-for-profit or government organisation and will have a collaborative and solutions-focused leadership style. A personable and influential leader with high levels of emotional intelligence and financial management skills will be essential. An understanding of the Native Title Act (1993), an appreciation of the issues affecting Indigenous Australians and prior experience of working with remote Aboriginal communities would be highly regarded in addition to the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with such community members.
In return you will receive a competitive remuneration package upwards of $200,000 plus superannuation. This is an opportunity to join a recognised Western Australian organisation advancing and protecting the native title rights of Indigenous Peoples.
