About the role

The Head of Philanthropy and Strategic Funding is responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth through a diversified national funding strategy. It leads the development and execution of fundraising across major donors, trusts and foundations, individual giving, bequests and government and philanthropic grants.

Working at a national level, the position translates Life Ed’s proven impact, broad reach and growing evidence base in health literacy, wellbeing and online safety into compelling investment cases. The role is central to securing long-term, multi-year funding partnerships by leveraging the organisation’s trusted brand, deep community connections and measurable outcomes, enabling continued growth, innovation and impact.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a national philanthropy and strategic funding plan aligned to organisational impact and growth, including managing revenue targets and pipeline forecasts
  • Build and manage funding pipelines across major gifts, trusts and foundations, individual giving, bequests and government and philanthropic grants
  • Lead the major donor strategy, including cultivation, stewardship and securing high-value, multi-year gifts
  • Oversee national appeals, regular giving and workplace giving programs to drive acquisition and retention
  • Design and grow legacy and bequest giving to build long-term, sustainable income
  • Strengthen donor stewardship frameworks to enhance engagement, loyalty and advocacy
  • Use data and CRM insights to optimise donor journeys, segmentation and overall fundraising performance
  • Collaborate nationally to align fundraising, partnerships and impact storytelling, ensuring a coordinated revenue approach

About you

We’re looking for an experienced fundraising and philanthropy manager who has a breadth of knowledge across all key revenue streams and is motivated by the opportunity to execute while operating strategically. You’ll be a hands-on leader who brings people together and converts opportunities into results.

You’ll succeed in this role if:

  • You have a strong track record delivering revenue growth across multiple fundraising streams
  • You bring deep experience in trusts and foundations, major donors and grant funding
  • You are a confident relationship builder, able to engage and influence senior stakeholders and high-value supporters
  • You combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery and a strong focus on outcomes
  • You are commercially minded and comfortable using data to drive decisions and performance
  • You are an excellent communicator, with the ability to craft compelling, impact-led narratives
  • You enjoy working collaboratively and can bring stakeholders together in a national environment
