About Us:

Afghan Women’s Organisation Victoria (AWOV) is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting Afghan women and families across Victoria. We provide culturally sensitive services that empower Afghan women through advocacy, case management, group activities, and community education and engagement.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Case Manager to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will provide case management to Afghan women and families, particularly those facing complex challenges including family violence. This role includes individual casework, facilitation of parenting sessions, and working collaboratively within a small, supportive team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide trauma-informed, strengths-based case management to Afghan women and families
  • Support clients with a range of complex issues including housing, family violence, legal issues, health, and settlement services
  • Conduct client assessments, develop care plans, and support clients to access relevant services
  • Facilitate culturally appropriate group information sessions and community workshops
  • Coordinate young women sports activities and school holiday program
  • Maintain accurate case notes and reporting in line with organisational policies
  • Work collaboratively with team members, community organisations, and service providers
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold the dignity and rights of all client

Essential Criteria:

  • Fluency in Dari or Pashto
  • Strong understanding of the Afghan community, culture, and issues affecting Afghan women in Australia
  • Experience in case management or working in a community services setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage complex caseloads
  • Flexibility with work hours, including occasional after-hours or weekend work if needed

Desirable:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Services, or related field.
  • Knowledge of the Australian service system (housing, family violence, legal, settlement, etc.).
  • Lived experience as part of the Afghan community.
