About the role
Practice Leaders provide specialist clinical leadership across Community Corrections, strengthening responses to domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) and other high‑risk offending. The role focuses on supporting frontline staff to manage complex cases, embed evidence‑based practice, and improve rehabilitation outcomes.
Working as part of a small, Territory‑wide team of psychologists and social workers, you will deliver case consultation, supervision, and targeted interventions, while contributing to workforce capability, wellbeing, and practice reform.
Key responsibilities
- Provide specialist risk assessment, case formulation and intervention planning for complex or highrisk offenders.
- Deliver targeted clinical interventions to address dynamic and offence related risks.
- Support probation and parole staff through supervision, coaching, case consultation and modelling of best practice.
- Build workforce capability through training, reflective practice, and resilience initiatives.
- Contribute to practice governance and continuous improvement, including development of tools, standards and audit processes.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support coordinated, effective responses to risk.
About you
You are a highly capable clinician with forensic and practice leadership skills.
To be successful, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications psychology or social work, with unconditional eligibility for registration with AHPRA or membership with AASW.
- Experience working with domestic, family and sexual violence and/or high risk offenders.
- Knowledge of criminogenic frameworks and risk assessment/intervention approaches, or the ability to develop this quickly.
- Experience working with complex, involuntary or statutory clients, with strong ethical decision making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, guide and build capability in others.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to work effectively with Aboriginal peoples and across diverse communities.
