Working as part of the Autism Friendly team, the Project Officer will ensure the successful delivery of the ILC funded ‘Sunflowers in Sydney’ hidden disability program to clients who are primarily sporting, leisure and cultural institutions. This will involve environmental assessments, resource development, training, and event coordination.
In keeping with our 'Working in Partnership' model in the Autism Friendly team, one of these two positions is an identified role for an autistic person to bring their lived experience to our already neurodiverse team. Click here to view the Position Profile.
Wearing the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower discreetly indicates to people around the wearer including staff, colleagues and health professionals that they need additional support, help or a little more time. Since its launch in 2016, it has now been adopted globally by major airports and venues and in the UK, and has more recently been introduced in Australia. We have received ILC funding for a project to expand and deliver this program in Sydney, with a focus on sporting, leisure and cultural institutions.
